Black Cohosh Thrives in the Shade.

Black Cohosh (Actaea racemose) is a great choice to brighten up a shady spot. It features spikes of tiny white flowers that are sweetly scented. It is popular among pollinators but is deer-resistant. It does best in medium shade and can be grown under hardwood trees. Black Cohosh is hardy in Zones 3 – 8.
