With its trumpet-like, blueish-purple flowers, Columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris) is a beautiful addition to any garden. It flowers in early spring, often around the same time that the first hummingbirds begin to return from their migration, and its nectar frequently attracts them. Columbine does especially well in woodland-style or wildflower gardens. It is hardy in Zones 3 – 8.
