If you want to grow your own Christmas tree, Noble Fir (Abies procera) is a great choice. It offers stiff, sturdy branches and impressive symmetry. It does best in cool, moist soil but can handle rockier conditions if watered more thoroughly. Growing at a rate of 1 – 2 ft. per year, it features large cones with branches that curve slightly upwards (ideal for holding large ornaments). Noble Fir is hardy in Zones 5 – 6.
