Winecups, also called Purple Poppy Mallow (Callirhoe involucrata) offer magenta blooms and a thick mat of foliage that’s evergreen in milder climates. Great for groundcover, the blooms are also known to attract pollinators like bees and butterflies. Winecups do best in full sun and can handle a variety of soil types, but may not do well in overly moist soil. They are generally hardy in Zones 4 – 8.
